The Govt of Andhra Pradesh engaged with a Singapore Consortium called Sing Bridge Ascendas, a realty partner. However, the realty partner shall first develop commercial establishments in the capital, through which it can earn revenue and the Govt of state was in hope that commercialization would further attract investments and trigger economic growth engine. However, the state succumbed to a stand still when the government is shifted to the hands of political opposition in the democratic process. Now, the proposed capital city is in standstill and has almost lost its idea. The incumbent government which rejected its predecessors green field capital idea claims that all this is false capitalism and sheer profit oriented approach to make personal gains. However, the current opposition admits that they were sheer neo-liberals who abided by trickle down theory to deliver the fruits of capitalist outset to the poor and needy through welfare programmes.

In this regard, I doubt what should be the best approach in a mixed economy like India? What should be the level of entanglement between Public and Private sectors?

Adam Dixon examines why state-owned corporate entities are increasingly behaving like the private sector. Financialisation, he argues, may be an important factor, but is not the only one. Dixon identifies three other logics (a developmental logic, a regime maintenance logic, and a geo-political legitimacy logic) which are also at play, and fundamentally shape the rise of marketized state entities.
